TRUTH

Error, indeed, is never set forth in its naked deformity, lest, being thus exposed, it should at once be detected. But it is craftily decked out in an attractive dress, so as, by its outward form, to make it appear to the inexperienced (ridiculous as the expression may seem) more true than the truth itself. - Irenaeus

Turn the other cheek!

The bible is loaded with stories of man's struggle with how to respond to our enemies.  There are stories where God did all the fighting, while there are other stories where God required his people to pick up the sword.  The pacifist will be the first to cite the gospels where Jesus went to the cross without a fight.  His disciples who at times wore swords strapped to their belts were ready to fight for him and in fact Peter cut off the ear of one of the soldiers who came to arrest Jesus.  Knowing that his mission was to die for the sins of man as a sacrificial lamb Jesus quickly stopped this act of self defense.

David certainly did not turn the other cheek when confronted with Goliath.  The new testament cites a list of heroes from the Old Testament who were warriors.
It is amazing that the pacifist expects the police to protect him from evil yet condemns the weapon that he might use in the process.
